Appeals Policy

  1. Purpose The purpose of this Appeals Policy is to provide a clear and equitable process for learners, trainers, and other stakeholders to challenge decisions made by 1A Hare Krishna International, particularly in areas such as assessment outcomes, disciplinary actions, and accreditation denials. This policy ensures that every appeal is handled professionally, transparently, and without prejudice.
  2. Scope This policy applies to all courses and programs offered by 1A H K International that are seeking or have obtained accreditation from the awarding organisations. It covers decisions made by the Institute’s staff, assessors, or any other person acting on behalf of the Institute that affect the status or progress of a learner or program.
  3. Policy Statement 1A H K International is committed to fair and just decision-making. However, we acknowledge that occasionally disagreements or misunderstandings can occur. In such instances, the Institute provides an avenue for appeals to ensure that all decisions are just and fair according to the educational and administrative standards.
  4. Grounds for Appeal Appeals may be lodged under the following circumstances:
  • Disagreement with the assessment results.
  • Concerns about procedural errors, unfair treatment, or bias during assessments.
  • Disagreement with disciplinary actions imposed.
  • Any other substantial reason that may impact the fairness of a decision.
  1. How to File an Appeal
  • Submission: Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Appeals Committee at info@hkinternational.uk within 14 days of the decision being appealed.
  • Details to Include: The appeal should clearly outline the decision being appealed, the grounds for appeal, any supporting evidence, and the outcome sought by the appellant.
  • Acknowledgment: The Appeals Committee will acknowledge receipt of the appeal within 5 working days and provide a timeline for the appeal process.
  1. Appeal Process
  • Initial Review: The Appeals Committee will conduct a preliminary review to determine the validity of the appeal. If the appeal is not valid, the appellant will be informed within 10 working days.
  • Investigation: If the appeal proceeds, a detailed investigation will be conducted. This may involve interviews with relevant parties and a review of all related documentation.
  • Decision: The Appeals Committee will make a decision within 30 working days of receiving the appeal, unless further investigation is required.
  • Notification: The appellant will be notified in writing of the committee’s decision, along with an explanation of the reasons behind the decision.
  1. Further Appeals If the appellant is dissatisfied with the outcome, they may seek a second review by a higher authority within the Institute. This request must be made within 10 working days following the receipt of the Appeals Committee’s decision.
  2. Record Keeping All appeal documents and records of the appeal process will be securely stored for a period of at least five years. These records will be confidential and accessible only to authorized members of the staff.
  3. Amendments This policy may be reviewed and amended periodically to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Stakeholders will be notified of any significant changes.
